Description

:bulletred:Name: Eliseya Cousland

:bulletred:Age: 19 years old
(28-29 in DA:I)

:bulletred:Date of Birth: 9:10 Dragon

:bulletred:Race: Alamarii

:bulletred:Class: Warrior

:bulletred:Specialization: Champion and Templar

:bulletred:Hair color and type: Short/ medium strawberry blonde

:bulletred:Eye color: Hazel

:bulletred:Skin tone: Light, pale with small freckles over her body,
dark brown birthmarks on her face

:bulletred:Scars or physical deformities: Scars on her right side
of her ribs from a surprise attack of a horde of darkspawn among the camp site.

:bulletred:Tattoos: Facial tattoos are uncommon among most humans, but Eliseya had wanted one once she turned eighteen as her passage of becoming a young woman. Her mother had always been somewhat strict in certain aspects of her daughter, but she was not one to scold or hold a grudge if the young Cousland felt a little rebellious, especially since Bryce would always let her get away with things.

:bulletred:Height:  Five foot six inches

:bulletred:Weight: 132 pounds

:bulletred:Body type: Lean and little to no muscle mass

:bulletred:Weapons: Duncan's longsword and the shield of Highever

:bulletred:Likes: Nature, widdling creatures from blocks of wood with her dagger, doing her stretches and exercizes (it makes her more relaxed), rainstorms

:bulletred:Dislikes: Bitter foods, making tough decisions (she has an issue with being indecisive), blood magic

:bulletred:Religious Preference: While Eliseya is Andrastian, she’s not overly religious or spiritual. The Chantry teaches that the Maker has removed himself from humanity and the world, after all, so while she believes in Him she doesn’t spend any serious time in prayer asking favors of Him. Instead, her only interest in religion is an academic one.

:bulletred:Family: Father- Teyrn Bryce Cousland (deceased)
Mother- Teyrna Eleanor Cousland (deceased)
Brother- Fergus Cousland, heir to the teyrnir
of Highever
Oriana Cousland (sister-in-law; deceased)
Oren Cousland (nephew; deceased)

:bulletred:Pets: Mabari named Brutus, War Hound

:bulletred:Sexuality: Straight

:bulletred:Hobbies and interests: Because her mother had wanted her to be educated within many fields, she had Eliseya take up art and history, which she absolutely loved. On her travels, she finds many paintings or statues that she collects and hides them within camp, leaving them there to study later on.

:bulletred:Personality-

:bulletred:5 traits: Quiet, timid, indecisive, gullible, and honorable

:bulletred:Strengths/ Redeeming qualities: She has a tendancy to hesitate when deciding on something that would impact everything around her, never truly having to deal with large consequenses until she had escaped Highever. She would never betray anyone, she trusts those around her and their abilities, even eventually Zevran, and doesn’t try to micromanage them because everyone knows what’s at stake; as long as they know each of their main tasks to help her fight the both Loghain and the Blight, she lets them choose how to meet those goals.

:bulletred:Biggest flaws/ weaknesses: She trusts too much. She often risks too much, including–especially–herself considering that she and Alistair are the only two Grey Wardens in the entire nation. If she’s decided that an action needs to be done, but she will conveniently neglect to mention it to anyone who might try and stop her. Too bent on revenge under the guise of duty to her family and nearly is killed many times in the process. Can be pretty gullible near the beginning of her journey, but eventually knows what to expect or look out for.

:bulletred:Personality before being recruited by Duncan: As daughter of Teyrn Cousland, she never considered herself spoiled when growing up, though one could say that’s only in comparison to other noble children rather than to children her age in general. Her mother insisted she maintain a certain level in more ladylike lessons if she were going to learn to fight, so she’s very well-rounded in that sense. She can’t do anything that’s both ladylike and practical, like cooking or sewing. When she is recruited she can dance easily and gracefully (a combination of actual dance lessons and being trained to “dance” around opponents in battle), and has a decent singing voice.  You’ll never hear her sing, though; her voice lessons were entirely to appease her mother, and not anything she really enjoyed or is proud of. She mainly loved to spar with Fergus and train alongside him since he was well versed in the way with a sword, and to her fathers surprise, she could easily maneuver with daggers and a longsword.

:bulletred:Before the Blight Eliseya was a fiery girl. She knew her responsibilities, and would get any assigned lessons or chores done before their deadlines. But both before and after completing any tasks she had, it wasn’t uncommon for her to be found places she wasn’t supposed to be–in the practice yard, on the other side of a locked door, at the top of a wall or tree with a book not related to her studies, or in town without a chaperon as she went to the market.

:bulletred:Habits/ Quirks: When lost in thought or nervous, she has a terrible issue with biting at her nails and spitting it out. This was frowned upon in her home since she was taught to act lady-like as a noble, but never really took those long speeches to heart.  To Morrigan's uncomfort, Eliseya has a tendancy to stare off as she's walking, sometimes staring at the others (since Morrigan is quite weirded out by Lelianna's stares as well), and she usually ends up walking behind the party.

:bulletred:Relationships/Love interests: Alistair’s overall easy attitude was helping her to cope with her situation following the attack in Highever from the moment they met. When she woke almost two days later in Flemeth’s hut they’d both lost everything they had–her for the second time in two weeks–and the two clung to each other.
The fact that he gave her time was one of the first “real” things that she loved about him. Alistair's overall humor had drawn her in at first, and she felt that this man who made her laugh despite all that she had lost in the short amount of time was a very special thing to do, and it was easy to get swept up into a conversation, temporarily forgetting the woes and obstacles they had to face in the future.

:bulletred:What do the other companions think of their relationship:
Morrigan thinks Eliseya is lowering herself by associating with Alistair, but she tolerates them together. Leliana is typical, cute, gushy Leliana. Sten would never discuss it, but he does think the two are a good match–or if nothing else, that she is good for him, especially once Alistair decides he’s going to actively pursue the throne. Wynne starts out as a busybody and a lot of Eliseya’s early in-camp discussions with the mage (pre-Sacred Ashes) end in shouting matches. Zevran teases them both, alternating between flirting with Eliseya and trying to make Alistair blush. Oghren is… well, Oghren. Since the two Wardens are already engaged before he meets them, he doesn’t have any basis of comparison otherwise.

:bulletred:What was their first kiss like: During their travels to Orzammar, Eliseya had set up camp in an open field with a set of docks near the waters, far across from The Circle. Once she had gotten herself alone, he came and found her to give her the rose. It was the “that wasn’t too soon, was it?” version of the conversation afterward, and she teased him that she’d need more testing to be sure, but that she had initially felt the same way about him. In spite of her very much welcoming the affection both verbally and otherwise, it terrified her because she’s lost everything twice-over already. She didn’t want to risk losing her entire life a third time. But to this day, the two are more in love with each other than they ever were, even if their duties as both royals and Grey Wardens keep them traveling seperately for long periods of time.

:bulletred:Any past relationships before the Blight: None, though her mother actively searched for decent suitors to have Eliseya meet, yet showed no interest in a boy who couldn't carry himself. She would chase the suitors away and laugh afterwards, to Eleanor's dismay. She had never shared a first kiss (or anything for that matter) with anyone besides Alistair.

:bulletred:Viewpoint on race and social classes: As a member of Ferelden’s nobility herself, Eliseya is very privileged and is proud to serve her people in any way that is necessary. But in spite of the fantastic education afforded her by her position, she knows next to nothing about the alienages or the caste system in Orzammar. She does try to learn, though. One of the only reasons she forced herself not to feel guilty over helping Bhelen win Orzammar’s throne is that he seemed to genuinely want to change that system–the only thing she felt he was genuine about other than his desire for his father’s throne. As for the alienage, she feels absolutely disgusted that elves would be treated in such a way, seeing as how they aren't even that different from others, and to see them caged like animals makes her question her views of humans.

:bulletred:Mages rights: Eliseya never had a reason to question the Chantry’s position on the Circles before the Blight, because before she never really understood what that position was. She’d met a few mages, sure, but she never actually saw magic performed before Ostagar. To her, yes, they’re people with the potential for power; but because of the laws surrounding magic use Circle mages were no danger. The first time she actually experienced magic directly (not including darkspawn emissaries) was when she had met Morrigan.

:bulletred:Apostates and blood mages are each something she learns about through experience rather than her studies and word of mouth from the gossip within the Highever walls. Eliseya is always cautious around individual apostates until she knows what to expect of them. While an apostate can eventually be trusted, however, blood magic she draws the line at. She suspects that Morrigan uses it at times, but the witch seems to know that that particular talent would not be openly appreciated.

:bulletred:During the Broken Circle, if your Warden could have had a dream: The demon had trouble sifting through her memories and finding the most effective lie to feed her, but ultimately it settled on a fantasy where she and Alistair were together in Highever, neither as Wardens and with her entire family alive and well. She awakes with him beside her in bed, and outside it is dark and snowing, but once she looks over, she sees nothing and it is suddenly bright outside. A quick transition from her room to outside where the mabari and her nephew are playing, and something grabs her attention; the quick change of ltime of day and season.

:bulletred:During the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest you will be introduced to the Guardian who will ask the Warden if they regret something from their past. If you could personalize the Guardian’s question what would he ask? And how would your Warden answer? :
The Guardian: I see that the path that led you here was not easy. There is suffering in your past - your suffering, and the suffering of others.
Eliseya: My only regret is not saving my family back in Highever, I should have stayed with them... To be with them as they passed.

:bulletred:Moral alignment and why: Neutral benevolent because she does not kill for the sake of killing (which is the only reason why she “recruited” Zevran after he yielded to her, and not even Howe was a “kill for pleasure” as that was fulfilling an oath to her father), but she will lose her temper and throw a right hook at someone if the time calls for it.

:bulletred:Favorites-
Colors: Eliseya adores both warm and cool colors, but will usually prefer the cool colors like greens and blues.

Food: She has more than a single favorite food, she just has many within various types. She loves freshly baked bread with slices of cold cheese, Eliseya also loves many fruits- mainly berries within her plain vanilla ice cream. And as for her favorite drink, she loves the taste of ice cold water and has a tendency to drink coffee when she's having a rough night.

Animals: She prefers dogs over cats, and loves her mabari hound to pieces, though she never owns another after her hound Brutus dies of old age later on in Denerim.

:bulletred:Choose any NPCs in the game and their relationship with your Warden: Bethany (and Leandra) Hawke: Leliana introduced Eliseya to Bethany and her mother briefly before leaving Lothering. Bethany didn’t know who she was, but Leandra recognized the Cousland crest on her previous shield. (I always figured being just across the sea from each other, that Highever and Kirkwall would have their own trade between one another, and that the noble families of each city would often know one another.) Leandra and Eleanor had once been friends, and Leandra gave Eliseya a sympathetic shoulder to cry on out of sight of her companions that afternoon. Before Leliana and Eliseya left the Hawkes’ home, Leandra packed them sufficient food and supplies to reach Redcliffe, and Bethany sorted out a number of items of her older sister’s for Eliseya to use, since she literally had nothing but the armor on her back after the battle at Ostagar. Much later in the Blight, the party passed through Lothering again; the home was abandoned when they reached it, but Bethany left a letter behind for Eliseya just in case she returned, to let her know they left Lothering safely and hadn’t been caught up in the darkspawn attacks. Bethany and Eliseya met again years later when the young mage was stationed at Vigil’s Keep, and Eliseya would visit every now and again even after retiring her position as Warden Commander to see her and the few Wardens who remained from her time in Amaranthine.
**This was an idea used from someone on Tumblr, because they pretty much wrote what I thought. So credit goes to them. I have wanted to work in where the Cousland and Hawkes eventually meet, and later on when they technically meet in DA:I**

:bulletred:How does the Blight end for your Warden: Long story short; Alistair goes along with Morrigan's ritual (despite his arguments and pleadings of not going through with it), but it keeps Eliseya and himself alive after they had the archdemon destroyed. Eliseya killed the archdemon, and she rules beside her new husband in Ferelden.
